In this terrible recession, we need vital public services and jobs more than ever.
Yet the state budget disaster has already forced devastating cuts to help for seniors, child care,
health care, schools, care for the disabled, police and fire departments and much more.
We want a better Illinois for our children and generations to come—a state that pays its bills,
makes smart investments in schools and jobs, and provides essential public services when they’re
needed most. We need a responsible budget.
Now legislators are back in Springfield, and it’s time for them to act. They need to hear from all
of us about the consequences of their past inaction: failing to pay the state’s bills, forcing
harmful cuts to human services, schools, public safety and jobs.
Tell lawmakers to end this crisis now. They must raise adequate revenue to fund schools, save
essential services and protect jobs.
Tell them to put aside political agendas, work together and get the job done. With a responsible
budget, we can build a better Illinois.
